The company says the Intel modem used in some i. Phones is infringing on its intellectual property. In addition to the lawsuits, Qualcomm asked the U. S. International Trade Commission to investigate its latest claims. The ITC has the power to ban companies from importing goods into the country. Apple sued Qualcomm earlier this week, suggesting that Qualcomm was infringing on several the i. Phone makers patents. The two companies have traded lawsuits for the past year over patent licensing fees and other patent related matters. For example, people can say Ok Google, find me a plumber to their device, the app will ask some follow up questions, and then supply a list of local options for plumbers on the smartphone screen. Results cards will include ratings and contact information, and Google says local providers in many cities will be prescreened by third party organizations such as Home. Advisor. Microsoft Edge for mobile devices ports over popular desktop features, include Favorites, Reading List, New Tab Page, and Reading View. It can sync bookmarks and browser history with the desktop and includes a built in QR code reader. This final version of the app adds Roaming Passwords, which allow you to save passwords on one device and sync them to others, such as from a phone to a PC and vice versa. LG today announced a handful of changes to its leadership that the company hopes will lead to stronger performance of its mobile phone business. The company named Hwang Jeong hwan as president and CEO of LG Mobile Communications. Juno Cho, the previous president, will take a new role within LG Corp. LG has also named Dr. Park Il pyung as CTO. Prior to his appointment as CTO, Dr. Park served as the head of LGs software business. Dr. Skott Ahn, the previous CTO, will tackle new responsibilities at LG Corp. In another change, Han Chang hee was named head of the Global Marketing Center. Last, LG is creating a B2. B company to handle sales to businesses. All the appointments are effective December 1. Life can expect to receive Android 8 Oreo over the coming days, according to HTC exec Mo Versi. HTC has made the system update available and will roll it out beginning today. Essential Products has updated the camera app for the PH 1 smartphone and in so doing added several new features. To start, the app now includes a portrait mode, allowing people to take images of friends and family with blurred backgrounds. The exposure compensation tool is now available in all camera shooting modes, which gives people more control over their results. Essential says the camera app now has lower jpeg compression for improved image quality. Last, the update fixes bugs and fine tunes performance. Google today announced Datally, a new app meant to help mobile device owners manage their data usage thanks to fine tuned controls. To start, the app lets people view their data usage on an hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly basis. The app will analyze usage over time and deliver personalized recommendations on how to save data. A built in Data Saver tool automatically turns off background data usage for all apps and provides instant insight on data usage while people use their apps. Datally will scan for public wifi hotspots, too, and help people connect in order to avoid using the mobile network. Google has been testing Datally in the Philippines for several months and says many people have been able to reel in data usage by 3. Datally is available for free from the Play Store.
